“Kingbury Montessori School is the reason I am what I am today. From being a shy baby who cried all the time to becoming a strong independent woman of today! This journey has been one of determination- all thanks to the strong foundation given to me in my wonderful school by none other than the best teacher and guide ever, Mrs. Shoshannah Xavier.”

The Teachers
As there were no Montessori trained teachers available, Shoshanah began training young enthusiastic teachers in the Montessori method under KRICET–Kingsbury Research in Child Education and Training.
Inspired by Kingsbury’s success, other established schools began to introduce the Montessori method and sent their teachers for Montessori training to KRICET.
Teachers trained in KRICET have become successful and dedicated teachers in many a school in and around the Nilgiris.
contribution to society
Shoshanah pioneered Montessori education in the Nilgiris. This led to the creation of teaching opportunities in schools that were fulfilled by KRICET through training and mentoring.
“Well-prepared schools with well-equipped teachers create well-rounded students.”
– Shoshanah Xavier

What Our Past Teachers Say
“I take pride in penning few words about my first teaching experience in the most popular Kingsbury Montessori House of Children. It was a real and valuable environment where the kids felt at home and learnt many interesting things using beautiful Montessori equipment. As a faculty, my carrier in Kingsbury was completely different to where I had worked previously. Those 4 golden years were a wonderful opportunity and I learnt to nurture the tender minds of young children.”

The Montessori Method
“Education should no longer be mostly imparting of knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentialities.”
– Maria Montessori
Montessori education builds a child’s capability to become a fulfilled and productive adult able to contribute to the world—at home, at work, and in their community. Maria Montessori’s observation of human development from birth to adulthood led to an education approach that supports children’s natural development, providing the skills and support to reach their full potential in life. With a strong emotional, behavioural, and moral foundation, children become motivated, active, and independent learners who are prepared for the real world.
The Montessori approach provides children with enduring intellectual capabilities, achieved through the framework of social and emotional learning.
Montessori develops the whole child. Academics and knowledge-building are key qualities of Montessori, as is the ability to think creatively and understand the needs of others. When these fundamental skills are fostered early in life, children gain the capability to problem solve, persevere, and interact well with others in any circumstance.
